The death toll from the massive twin earthquakes that recently struck in South America is already over 2,00. As rescue operations continue, it is feared that number will rise significantly. Along with the rising death toll, there are tens of thousands displaced and facing homelessness and lack of basic necessities. Many people were injured by falling cement blocks and other debris and are hampered by lack of health care.
AMURT & AMURTEL volunteers have been partnering with other organizations to bring food and temporary shelter to those without shelter. We are also working in shelters to provide psychological support for families dealing with the effects of the trauma.
